With the theory that Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S21 series earlier than ever before on January 14th, and the ever-increasing frequency and accuracy of leaks, we are now collating all the facts, images, and videos of the new series of flagship smartphones. We’ll be updating the article as and when each new leak, official and otherwise, occurs in the run-up to the alleged launch date.
Official Galaxy S21 Trailer
Samsung has posted the official Galaxy Unpacked trailer which shows people dancing, singing, planning a meal, parkouring, running, standing around in an abandoned building, and very, very little of the actual handset, despite all the press renders that have already leaked ahead of the January 14th launch event.
Availability
(Updated January 8) Roland Quandt (WinFuture) has managed to find out some details on when the Galaxy S21 series will be available in Europe. The Galaxy S20 went on sale in the region on March 13th, but Samsung will apparently put its new flagships on sale on January 29th, which means that pre-order deals will be live from at least the week before if not earlier. This means that the Galaxy S21 should be available in the US around the same time, give or take a couple of days either way.
Official Press Renders
It’s less than a week to go until Samsung confirms or denies everything we think we know about the Galaxy S21 series but we’ve got another solid offering from reliable leaker Evan Blass (via Voice) that brings us hi-res renders of the new flagships. The images show the front, back and sides of the Galaxy S21 5G, Galaxy S21+ 5G, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G in their launch colors.
Launch Date & S Pen confirmation
Updated January 4th, 2021: Samsung has finally confirmed the January 14th launch date and a new leak from WinFuture.de has shown off the official Galaxy S21 Ultra flip case that sports a foldable section on its rear panel to house the rumored S Pen. It seems that the S Pen won’t be present in the box, however, with Samsung instead selling it separately as an add-on accessory. This means you’ll be able to mix and match the color of the S Pen to your Galaxy S21 Ultra. There has been some speculation on how the S Pen will be charged but perhaps it might involve placing the S Pean on the rear panel of the Galaxy S21 Ultra and charging it via the Wireless PowerShare feature.
The S Pen looks more like the Galaxy Tab S7’s stylus and is said to feature many, if not all, the same functions as seen on the Galaxy Note 20’s S Pen, including the ability to behave as a remote shutter and scroll through presentations.
Galaxy S21 Pre-order details leak
Updated December 28: While Samsung hasn’t specifically confirmed the rumored January 14th launch date, it seems that other parts of its marketing machine are ramping up with the news that you can now reserve your pre-order of the Galaxy S21 series in the US.
According to the XDA, US dwellers can open up the Samsung Shop app and register to be notified as and when Galaxy S21 pre-orders go live.
Besides being notified when the pre-orders go live, pre-registering will also reward you with $60 in instant credits that you can use to buy things such as a charger and perhaps a pair of earphones, things that Samsung is no longer including in the box. Once the pre-orders for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra go live, you’ll also be able to trade-in your current smartphone which could net you as much as $700 and give you an additional 5% reduction via Samsung Discounts.

Unlike the Galaxy S21 Ultra, both handsets will sport flat displays (6.2 and 6.7-inches respectively) with Full HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. While the 2400 x 1080 resolution is pretty average, the displays are said to be ultra-bright (up to 1300 candela) with 120Hz refresh rates. Pixel peepers will note that the Galaxy S21 is said to feature 421ppi while the larger Galaxy S21+ makes do with 394ppi.
In Europe, the Galaxy S21 and S21+ will sport the 5nm Exynos 2100 chipset that features a 2.9GHz ‘Super-core’, along with 3 other high-performance cores, and 4 energy-efficient cores. So far the benchmarks suggest that the Exynos 2100 is a match for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 that will be used by the Galaxy S21 series in the US.
Accompanying the Exynos 2100 will be 8GB of RAM along with 128GB/256GB of built-in storage. There’s no word on the presence of MicroSD card support for either handset and it seems that neither will support the S Pen like the Ultra is said to.
With a couple of weeks to go until the alleged January 14th launch date, there isn’t much that we don’t already know about the Galaxy S21 series, here’s hoping that Samsung manages to surprise us somehow.
Rumored Euro Pricing
Updated December 21: Rumored European pricing for Galaxy S21 series leaks via 91mobiles, which if accurate, shows that Samsung’s newest range will be both cheaper and more expensive than the Galaxy S20 series, depending on the model.
European Pricing:
- Galaxy S21: €849 (~$1,037)
- Galaxy S21+: €1,049 (~$1,280)
- Galaxy S21 Ultra: €1,399 (~$1,710)
After the lower than expected sales of the Galaxy S20 series in 2020, it looks like Samsung is trying to make its base model more appealing from a financial standpoint, although the Ultra appears to cost €50 more than its predecessor.
Rumored to be launched on January 14th in 2021, we are still waiting for Samsung to confirm that if this is the actual date but everything is pointing this way so far.

Specifications
Until recently it was thought (and hoped) that Samsung would launch the Snapdragon 888-powered Galaxy S21 in all regions instead of making Europeans suffer with the Exynos-powered variant, and for a very brief time it was posited that Samsung would eschew Qualcomm’s newest processor altogether. Thanks to the trio of handsets passing through the FCC, it has been confirmed that both the Exynos and Snapdragon chips will be used with the status quo of the US getting the Qualcomm-powered variants, and Europe getting the Galaxy S21 powered by Samsung’s chip.
Design
What does the Galaxy S21 range look like? In the slideshow above you can see the first official image of the base model courtesy of Evan Blass, along with a render of the Phantom Silver and Phantom Black colorways of the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G.
Slim bezels, built-in camera bump
Looking at the renders, the bezels around the display appear to be uniformly slim on every side, with the selfie camera being housed in a central punch-hole, thus ruling out a previous rumor of there being an in-display camera on the S21 Ultra.
S Pen Support?
Samsung has seemingly confirmed that at least one of the Galaxy S21 handsets will include S Pen support. It’s likely that the chosen model will be the top-of-the-range Galaxy S21 Ultra although it won’t have an internal slot to house the stylus which begs the question of how the S Pen will be charged. Personally, I see the S Pen being charged in much the same way as it is on the Galaxy Tab S7 series of tablets, with a magnetic charging strip on the rear panel that you attach the stylus to.
Will there be a charger included in the box?
Updated January 12th: According to marketing materials posted on Twitter by Roland Quandt, the Galaxy S21 series will not include a charger or headphones in the retail packaging. More here.
According to the above tweet by reliable leaker, Roland Quandt, Samsung is not including a charger, earphones, or case with any of its European Galaxy S21 models. It’s something that was rumored ever since Apple announced it would no longer include chargers with handsets, ostensibly for environmental concerns.
While Samsung has yet to officially announce the launch date, it’s thought that it will announce the Galaxy S21 series on January 14th during a virtual Unpacked event. As you might expect with such an early announcement, the Galaxy S21 range of handsets will go on sale earlier than ever before, possibly before the end of January seeing as it has already passed through the FCC. The news that “a whole new Exynos� will be announced on January 12th, two days before the rumor smartphone launch lends further credence to that particular rumor.
