The Beeper chat app is a subscription-based messaging app with iMessage support for Android

As Google perfects its Messages app Apple’s iMessage app is still the gold standard when it comes to messaging apps despite it being restricted to iOS and MacOS devices. Every year the rumor comes about that Apple is considering bringing iMessage to Android and every year it doesn’t happen. The Beeper messaging app promises to bring iMessage support to the Android platform, as well as supporting another 14 other messaging apps on Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

The product of Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky, the support for iMessage requires users to either have a jailbroken iPhone with the Beeper app (which Beeper will send you) installed to use as a bridge to the messaging platform, or have a Mac connected to the internet 24/7 which, with the Beeper client installed, will also behave as a bridge to iMessage. Either way, it involves buying or owning an Apple device to make use of iMessage.

It’s quite the list of supported messaging apps, especially when you add iMessage into the mix. Such compatibility isn’t free, though, Beeper is a subscription service that costs $10 every month, although if you choose to self-host the full stack you can use the service for free.
