The affordable TCL 20 SE and TCL 20 5G are set to launch during Q2 of 2021

TCL 20

Today is the first day of virtual CES 2021 and with it comes the unveiling by TCL of a range of phones to follow up on the solid TCL 10 Series from 2020. The first two handsets of the new series are the TCL 20 SE and the TCL 20 5G which feature NXTVision 2.0 technology and launching in Q2 of 2021.

TCL 20 SE

The TCL 20 SE is the entry-level member of the series, coming in a plastic rear panel and 2.5D glass on the front. There’s a big 6.82-inch notched display with HD+ resolution, 20.5:9 aspect ratio, and NXTVision SDR-to-HDR playback in tow. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 460 chipset which is accompanied by 4GB of RAM, 64GB of built-in storage, and MicroSD card support up to 256GB.

The battery has a 5,000mAh capacity with 18W USB-C fast-charging. Unusually for such a modestly-equipped handset, NFC connectivity is present which means it’s already a better buy than most of the affordable Motorola smartphones currently available if mobile payments are important to you. The fingerprint sensor is located on the rear panel.

There are four rear cameras consisting of a 16MP main sensor, a 5MP wide-angle lens, and a couple of 2MP sensors for depth and macro functions. The 8MP front-facing camera sits in the notch on the display.

Being a budget handset that is priced at just €149, the TCL 20 SE will first launch in Europe during Q2 with Nuit Black and Aurora Green colorways.

TCL 20 5G

The follow-up to last year’s TCL 10 5G, the TCL 20 5G has been somewhat downgraded from being powered by the Snapdragon 765G to the Snapdragon 690 chipset, although the price has also been adjusted downwards to €299. Available with either 128GB or 256GB built-in storage with MicroSD support, the TCL 20 5G also has 6GB of RAM. As you can probably ascertain from the moniker, the TCL 20 5G does indeed offer 5G networking.

Smaller than the TCL 20 SE, there’s a 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD display with HDR10, NEXVision 2.0 technology, and a punch-hole selfie camera with eight megapixels. The glossy plastic rear panel houses a trio of cameras including the 48MP main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a dedicated 2MP macro camera.

A 4,500mAh battery keeps the lights on with upto 18W Quick Charge 4.0+ charging present while the fingerprint sensor is once again housed on the side of the phone.

Launching in Mist Gray and Placid Blue, the TCL 20 5G will go on sale in Europe during Q2 with other regions following in the coming months. Other Series 20 models launching later this year include the TCL 20 Pro 5G, the TCL 20L, and the TCL 20S.
