Samsung’s retro clamshell charger case for the Galaxy Buds Pro are the bomb

Galaxy Buds Pro

Once you’ve seen one wireless earbud charging case you’ve pretty much seen them all, right? I mean, sure there are round, oval, and square charging cases but they all look pretty much like they came out of the same design shop. Not so with Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds Pro charging case that is on sale in South Korea and looks like one of the old Anycall T100 or E700 clamshell mobiles from before Android OS took off.

As adorable as the retro clamshell charging cases look, it doesn’t look like the clock on the front is a functioning feature and is instead a static image, which is a bit of a bummer. It also seems that they are only available when buying a set of the Galaxy Buds Pro in-store in South Korea, which is more than a little inconvenient for the rest of the world.

It’s good to see Samsung having a bit of fun, although it’s not cheap fun because the clamshell charging case adds around $30 to the cost of buying a set of Galaxy Buds Pro. There’s no word on how much battery capacity the charging case holds if any, but we do know that the white Anycall T100 case weighs in at 35g and the blue E700 case 40g.

We’ll update the post if and when Samsung decides to release it in the west.
