After the rumors and apparently confirmation that a Wear OS smartwatch is being prepped for release in 2021 by OnePlus, it seems that the company’s initial foray in the wearable segment could be a fitness band to take on the likes of popular Xiaomi’s Mi Band.

According to Android Central, the OnePlus Band as it will be called, is being readied for release during Q1 2021 with a price tag of around $40. Xiaomi’s Mi Band series has been the gold standard in recent years when it comes to affordable fitness bands, so the OnePlus Band is going to have to offer something extra to make an impact in the segment.

The OnePlus Band is said to include essential features such as an AMOLED display, water-resistance, and multi-day battery life, and could make its debut in India where the brand has a big following.

As we begin to look forward the launch of the OnePlus 9 during the early part of 2021, the OnePlus Band will likely be unveiled a few weeks before.
