Apple TV+ Free Trials Extended a Second Time

As the global coronavirus pandemic rages on, with new lockdowns keeping more and more people indoors, we’re all in need of more entertainment. If video streaming is your pastime of choice, Apple TV+ viewers are in for a pleasant surprise.

Apple is once again extending its free trials of Apple TV+, 9to5Mac reports. Anyone with free trials that were set to expire between February and June 2021 will now have free access until July. After that, the service will presumably return to charging $4.99 per month. Look for an email from Apple applying a credit to your account.

Previously, Apple extended trials by three months for users who began using the service between Nov. 1, 2019 and Jan. 31, 2020. Anyone who buys an Apple device gets a free year of Apple TV+. Everyone else gets a seven-day trial.

COVID-19 means Hollywood has had to delay production on many of its shows, and that includes Apple. As 9to5Mac notes, these extended free trials allow Apple to get its content ducks in a row as it competes with streaming behemoths like Netflix and Disney.

With approximately $200 billion in the bank, though, Apple can afford to experiment.
